Snake

You slithered into my world

and bit me while you smiled

knowing the venom would

leave me paralyzed.

There you waited,

until I was rendered immobile

and pounced on my life,

leaving bits strewn across the lawn.

My heart was left shredded,

my stomach filled with stone

that weighed me down

unable to move forward.

All I can see is this murky film

that has covered my eyes,

leaving the shapes around me

dark and sinister.

One day I will put myself back together,

one jigsaw puzzle piece at a time.

until the picture comes together

to form me. Again.

    1. Personal for sure (although I wish it wasn’t…lol) It has been about 10 years and finally able to just say how I feel about it. It isn’t easy to know you were taken advantage of and you end up building walls to protect yourself. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. 🙂
